On the occasion of the Métiers d’art 2022/23 CHANEL – DAKAR fashion show, actress and ambassador of the House, Nana Komatsu, soaks up the excitement of Dakar, the Métiers d’art collection and the cultural programming surrounding the event.
She is accompanied by actress and model Mama Sané who stars in Mati Diop’s film « Atlantique », Grand Prix at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and who opened the show.
KOMATSU Nana
Komatsu Nana, is a Japanese actress and model. She is best known for her roles in The World of Kanako, Destruction Babies, Drowning Love, The Black Devil and the White Prince, My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday, After the Rain, Farewell Song, Threads: Our Tapestry of Love and Sakura.
She made her Hollywood debut role in the film Silence.
Mama SANE
Mama Sané is the youngest of six children. Living in Dakar, she left school early and started an apprenticeship with a tailor.
Having never filmed or even set foot in a cinema, she was discovered and chosen by Mati Diop (who wanted to shoot with non-professionals) to play the main character in Atlantique, his first feature film.
Selected for the Cannes Film Festival in May 2019, Atlantique allows Mati Diop to be the first black filmmaker to present a feature film in competition on the Croisette.
This Franco-Senegalese co-production, mixing multiple genres such as social drama, fantasy and romance, left the closing ceremony with the Grand Prix.In the film,
Mama Sané plays the heroine Ada, a young woman confronted with social, political and religious pressures in her country,
Mati DIOP
Mati Diop grew up in Paris with her Senegalese musician father Wasis Diop and her French photographer and art buyer mother Christine Brossart.
She is also the niece of the filmmaker Djibril Diop Mambet whose work she greatly admires.

Conceived by Virginie Viard and created between CHANEL’s Ready-to-Wear workshops in Paris and the Maisons d’art of the 19M, the Métiers d’art 2022/23 CHANEL – DAKAR collection is the fruit of multiple encounters over the past three years between Virginie Viard and artists from all horizons: choreographer Dimitri Chamblas, who called on dancers from the École des Sables, founded by Germaine Acogny, as well as directors, musicians and authors, and friends of the House.
Imagined by Virginie Viard and created between CHANEL’s Ready-to-Wear workshops in Paris and the Maisons d’art of the 19M, the Métiers d’art 2022/23 CHANEL – DAKAR collection is the fruit of multiple encounters, over the last three years, between Virginie Viard and artists from all walks of life: choreographer Dimitri Chamblas, who called on dancers from the École des Sables founded by Germaine Acogny, as well as filmmakers, musicians and authors, as well as friends of the House.
