On July 7, we discovered the winner of the 2023 edition of Africa Fashion Up:
Aristide Loua, an Ivorian designer and founder of the Kente Gentlemen brand, brilliantly won the prestigious « Designer Africa Fashion Up 2023 » award.
The five winners unveiled several pieces from their collections at a magnificent fashion show held at the Musée du Quai Branly Jacques Chirac.
This edition received essential support from BALENCIAGA, Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann and HEC Paris, committed partners, as well as media such as Trace, Brut, France Médias Monde, Brune Magazine and 35°Nord.
Aristide LOUA represent the Brand Kente Gentleman from Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
After completing his studies in finance in New York, Aristide returned to Abidjan to launch his brand, Kente Gentleman, which has enjoyed international success, being sold on every continent.
What makes it unique is its use of braided loincloths, handcrafted in the villages of Côte d’Ivoire, to create its garments.
He skilfully blends these traditional fabrics with extremely contemporary cuts.
His aim is to support local artisans while inspiring Africans to consume products that value their culture and know-how.
AFRICA FASHION UP 2023 – Edition 3

Designers Eric Raisina (Madagascar) and Guy Fabrice « Zaady » (Côte d’Ivoire), both winners of the first edition of AFUP, also enriched the show as special guests.
The event, designed by sculptor/plastic artist Junior Fritz Jacquet, featured outstanding performances by dancer Yann Antonio and rapper Passi, accompanied by Ortiz. It was followed by a sumptuous gala dinner at the museum.
