Presented this Tuesday, July 5, in a former fallout shelter in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, Alexandre Vauthier’s fall-winter 2022-2022.
Alexandre Vauthier set the tone with a collection of contrasts, where large volumes walk alongside fitted and shiny silhouettes, where transparencies (some with stud or crystal trim) play a crucial role alongside metallic fabrics, and where denim comes face to face with crocodile skin finish. All these combinations result in a glamorous cluster of unconventional figures that contributes to the myth of grandiloquence built around haute couture.
Haute Couture Collection
Haute Couture collection appeared like a breeze that caresses our face in the middle of a heat wave: refreshing. The designer’s sharp vision was once again illustrated through a score of vamp silhouettes, each more desirable than the last.
The designer, who has worked for Jean Paul Gaultier, played with proportions: shoulders are square and oversized, sleeves of a suit are cut, pants caress the ground and are topped with Bermuda shorts so well cut that you don’t notice them at first glance.
The fabrics
The fabrics are thick, adding a little more strength to the sexy cuts, both feminine and masculine, that are presented to us. Velvet, silk, silver or bright blue sequins in total look or on well-chosen yokes. A power-dressing inspired as much by the Art Deco of the 30’s as by the 80’s, fulfilling both the working girl and the clubhouse in us.
