had the pleasure of organizing the second edition of the prestigious « Paris Open 2023« , the Grand Prix of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Nearly fifteen countries took part this year, offering an exceptional level of competition. Fights followed one another, interspersed with magnificent Uzbek musical and artistic performances.

The Official representation
His Excellency Mr. Sardor Rustambaev, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to France and Portugal, delivered a speech, expressing gratitude to all the officials present and the audience. He highlighted the origins of this sport and the philosophy behind it.
At the end of Ambassador Sardor Rustambaev’s speech, the national anthems of Uzbekistan and France were played, followed by applause from the audience.
His Excellency Mr. Sardor Rustambaev, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to France and Portugal, and Mr. Komil Yusupov, founder of traditional Kurash wrestling and the International Kurash Association, presided over the Opening Ceremony of the International Kurash Tournament 2023 for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Prize.
Emile Antoine Sports Center Ceremony
On Monday, July 24, 2023, at the Emile Antoine Sports Center in the 15th arrondissement of Paris, the International Kurash Tournament took place, sponsored by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Kurash is a traditional sport of Uzbekistan, an ancient form of wrestling that has existed for at least 3500 years.
The term « Kurash » in Uzbek means « achieving a goal through fair means. » It’s important to note that this martial art is supported by UNESCO.
The French KURASH Federation
As the governing body of Kurash in France, the French Kurash Federation is dedicated to safeguarding and popularizing this ancient martial art with roots dating back over 3500 years to modern-day Uzbekistan.
Kurash extends beyond mere combat; it embodies rich historical, traditional, and cultural values.
The French KURASH Federation mission is to introduce and foster Kurash in France, promoting its practice, hosting competitions, and nurturing athletes to achieve excellence at the highest level.
The Ceremony – International Kurash Tournament France 2023 for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Prize
The ceremony began with a remarkable entrance of all international competitors, running in with their flags held high.
The Competition
Uzbekistan team taking first place in the Men’s category
Congratulations to all the participants, with the Uzbekistan team taking first place in the Men’s category, and the German representative brilliantly taking victory in the Women’s category.
The French KURASH Federation would like to express our gratitude to the Uzbek Kurash Federation, the European Kurash Confederation, the International Kurash Federation and the Uzbek Embassy in France for their invaluable support.
This event was a great success thanks to the passion and dedication of all the participants and partners involved. Long live the sport and culture that unite nations!

The Audience
The audience was treated to an opening performance by Uzbek singers, who enchanted everyone with their traditional folk songs.
It was a magnificent Kurash tournament, filled with spectacular displays and a profound mutual respect among the fighters!
Following the event, there was a delightful moment of camaraderie and warm sharing of traditional Uzbek cuisine.
A host of prestigious guests were on hand to witness these unique moments, and a buffet of traditional cuisine rounded off the event in style.
What mean KURASH ?
Kurash is an Uzbek word. It means – « to reach the goal in a fair or just manner ».
From its birth until recent times, kurash was used as a martial art and public physical entertainment at major festivals, feasts and weddings. Kurash is mentioned in numerous historical sources.
