Maxhosa Africa FALL 2024 RTW -READY-TO-WEAR
“Maxhosa Africa, the sole Africa-based brand featured on the official Paris Fashion Week schedule, made its debut.
Founder and creative director Laduma Ngxokolo, made a bold statement with its Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection during Paris Fashion Week. who traveled over 6,000 miles, turned his long-standing dream of showcasing in Paris into reality.
At the Residence of the Ambassador of South Africa to France, Ngxokolo infused the French capital with a blend of traditional Xhosa textile and beadwork.
Cultural Appreciation
Maxhosa Africa showcased knitwear that draws inspiration from African heritage.
Laduma Ngxokolo believes in preserving culture by integrating it into contemporary lives, rather than relegating it to museums or special occasions.
He reinterpreted Xhosa beadwork and motifs from Ndebele and Maasai cultures through knitwear, creating a range from casualwear to dressier pieces.
Global Relevance
Ngxokolo emphasized that African fashion has a role in the global fashion ecosystem.
With access to raw materials and a growing middle class, African fashion is sustainable.
Maxhosa Africa, with its vertically integrated knitwear factory, exemplifies this vision.
Knit-Based Cool Kids
Maxhosa Africa stands alongside other knit-based cool brands, showcasing expertise in color harmonies and flattering shapes.
Beadwork nods to the brand’s roots, embroidered on dresses and boleros, while maintaining visual appeal and cultural preservation
