Laurent ERNY
A student at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-arts de Paris, Laurent Erny has worked in several group workshops with the live model.
Works from Laurent ERNY
« Working from drawings, I try, in my painting, to retain and rediscover both the first impressions discovered through the first sketches, thus retaining the impetus, the idea of movement, and to link it to an intention of composition, implemented by the desire to occupy space, to play with rhythms, the relationships of shapes and volumes ».
Laurent ERNY – Figure de Danseuse
Madé JONG
Madé JONG now creates works using “Obom
This stylist-painter, a graduate of the Haute Couture Institute in Lyon, was born in Douala, Cameroon, in 1958.
A staunch advocate for the fusion of fashion design and painting, she seamlessly transitions between these two activities.
The common ground lies in the materials she uses, serving as a bridge between the two worlds.
Madé JONG now creates works using “Obom” (reprocessed tree bark), intricately combined with forged iron or other reclaimed materials.
While her initial canvases were in oil, she had to abandon this technique due to allergies.

Yao Metsoko is a Franco-Togolese representing Contemporary African Art
Categories: Artists, Togo, Visual Arts, West Africa
Yao Metsoko is a Franco-Togolese painter-sculptor
Born in 1965, Yao Metsoko moved to France in 1985. Hailing from the village of Tomégbé about 6 miles from the town of Badou along the Ghanaian border in western Togo.
He expresses the memory of African peoples and aligns with contemporary African artists sensitive to the underlying meaning of form, social and political commitments, for whom symbol and spirituality are ingrained in life and artistic practice.
Inspired by African traditions, Yao uses a blend of movements from the past with a rhythm of today in his works. At his core is an impulse to create art that defines a harmony between things, beings, and spirits.
After a brief period in London, he now lives and works in Paris.
He lives now in Saint-Ouen and is currently in residence at the MACAQ Association. As part of PAMOJA 2010 at UNESCO, his series titled ‘Quintessence…’ explores the theme of ‘subtle forces.’
From a young age, Yao was encouraged by his mother to draw images of religious iconography.
His art is a powerful vector of the spiritual link that he maintains with Africa. He appreciates the possibilities that Art offers through the questioning of time, space, and society1.
One of his notable series of works is titled “Quintessence…” which is part of the work of heritage preservation with a special focus on the role of artists in the diaspora in relation to Contemporary Africa.
Through this series of works, he leads an artistic, philosophical, and political reflection on the question of the preservation of heritage and its valorization1.
His paintings and sculptures have been exhibited in Paris, numerous French cities, Rüdersdorf, and the Château de Saint-Ouen.
He has also participated in numerous festivals and salons that highlight cultural crossbreeding and bridges.
The format that emerged for this series is that of the square—an anchoring of a round spirit within a square body.
Yao employs mixed techniques on canvas, using diverse materials such as acrylics, fabrics, and others.
The material explored by Yao Metsoko has an earthy texture dominated by ochre and brown tones.
It corresponds to the retranscription of ancestral traditions from his native African country, Togo. His work engages in a dialectic between rootedness and radiance, anchoring within oneself and openness to the world.
The lines in Yao Metsoko’s artwork invite meditation: His creation is a process of anchoring in the essence of things.
It pays homage to the spirituality understood by his ancestors and facilitates a dialogue between the past and the present.
However, Yao considers himself not a historian but a creator. ‘I position myself at the level of a memory that is not ‘written’ but ‘inscribed,’ as I carry it within me.

OSMOSIS
Osmosis
Size: 79 x 121 cm
Materials: Plaster, wood, shellac, gold, copper and metal powder
Duality between the masculine and feminine
Osmosis is about the duality between the masculine and feminine in the human body.
It is a materialisation of the spiritual belief that male and female energy are meant to work together, in symbiosis to achieve their optimum energetic capacity.
According to hinduism, the God Shiva-Shakti, the most powerful form of energy to exist, is half male, Shiva and half female, Shakti.
Somehow, Osmosis is our contemporary take to Shiva-Shakti.
