An installation and performance piece at the KREOL West Indies Art Gallery in Guadeloupe, this work explores the history of navigation and the diasporic experiences of people from Southern India, Africa, and indigenous Caribbean communities.

The use of materials like tec, mango, and coconut wood, bound together by coconut fiber cords, symbolizes the interconnectedness of cultures and the formation of new identities over time.

Vasuhan’s journey as an artist has taken him across the globe, from the bustling streets of Colombo to the ancient city of Nicosia, Cyprus, where he honed his skills under the mentorship of modern painter Glyn Hughes.

His exhibitions in France, Japan, and Martinique, Guadeloupe, showcase the depth and diversity of his artistic skills.

His work is a testament to the transformative power of art amidst adversity, reflecting both tradition and innovation.

In the historic city of Nicosia, Cyprus, Vasuhan’s artistic path was profoundly shaped by Glyn Hughes, a distinguished modern painter and art critic.

Under Hughes’ mentorship, Vasuhan refined his portraiture and figurative painting skills, immersing himself in the rich heritage of Mediterranean civilization.

His involvement in various exhibitions and art conferences expanded his perspective, deepening his appreciation for the transformative power of art.

Hughes also facilitated my admission to a local art school in Kaimakli, led by Master Yannis, where I had my first group exhibition.

In 1997, I took part in a group exhibition titled ‘French Homage Artistes 1900 – 1960’ at E.K.A.T.E. Nicosia, organized by Hughes.
